Infection Fighting Capability

To understand the immune system’s capacity to fight infection, we can identify current internal infectious challenges that exist in a “carrier” state or that are being balanced by the immune system.

When you are stressed, these infections tend to rise to the surface and develop symptoms. Depending on your individual circumstance, some of the most challenging issues include: Group B Strep, Group A Strep, Lyme disease and co-infections, sexually transmitted diseases (HIV, herpes, syphilis, Chlamydia, HPV), hepatic (A, B, C), Epstein Barr Virus, and smoldering populations of gut organisms (Candida, other infectious bacteria, clostridium difficile, and parasites). Often the need to test for these can be identified by checking a complete blood count (CBC) and a general measure of inflammation. Other tests to check that the anti-infective component of the immune system is working properly include:

  • Secretory IGA
  • IgM
  • And IgG subtypes

Vitamins and minerals that are essential for the immune system to effectively combat infectious agents include:

  • Vitamin A
  • Beta Carotene
  • Vitamin D3
  • Vitamin B6
  • Folic Acid
  • Vitamin B12
  • Zinc
  • Vitamin C
  • Magnesium
  • Selenium
  • Amino Acids
  • Glutathione
